This group of compactors is classified for dry waste, it is commonly referred to as a horizontal compactor. The type by-products normally placed in a stationary (break-away) compactor are usually dry recycleable material or dry solid waste. It packs trash into a separate container which, when full, is disconnected from the compactor and hauled to the disposal site or recycling center, emptied and returned.
The traditional buyers of stationary compactors are those in industry, warehousing and retail merchandising. Maguire offers an expansive selection of different sized and powered compactors. Typically, we size these units based on the size of your by-product and the volume you need to process.

These installations utilize many differnent types of compactors. The roll-off self contained, the front load VERT-I-PACK, PAK'NTAINER and the horizontal compactor. The applications differ with each property, based on available space and aesthetics, but work very similarly. Many properties have a central location for the compactor near the mail boxes at the property exit. Some have a telescopic feed chute that extends for tennant loading. Tenants put trash in the compactor keeping trash off the curb and reducing the costs to clean it up. There is only one trash site to clean up and those unsightly front load bins can be eliminated. One of our trash removal systems will; take up less parking spaces, save on disposal costs, reduce fire hazards and be unobtrusive.

This group of compactors are referred to as both extruders and de-watering precrushers. Their purpose is to "deliquify" waste materials that have very high liquid content. Typical users of these products are; paper mills to take the water out of reject material or the dairy industry for both product destruction and deliquifying. If you're paying for disposal by the ton, weight reduction (by taking liquids out) can slash thousands of dollars from your waste disposal costs. If your waste is only 20% solids and we increase that to 50% & based on water weighing 1685 lb. per cubic yard, we'll save you over 500 lb. per cubic yard. At $75 per ton disposal costs that equals $18.75 per cubic yard. How many yards do you generate per month?

This group of compactors is designed for the customer that generates a more limited volume of wet waste. The compactor is serviced by the very popular front load truck and is ideal for those areas that have limited space. The trade name for these units are VERT-I-PACK, JET PACK and PAK'NTAINER. Typical applications include fast food stores, restaurants, cafeterias, schools, hotels, supermarkets, nursing homes and many others. The units, with various sizes, provide liquid containment of wet wastes and can eliminate week-end overflow and costly week-end service costs. It also prevents scavenging of discarded food and the need to clean up spillage.

The Precrusher is a horizontal compactor with a steel gate between it and the opening of the container door. When one loads bulky waste materials into the charging chamber the unit forces its ram forward to the gate where it crushes the waste. After reaching its full pressure, the ram relaxes so the gate can be lifted and after it is raised the ram restarts and crams the crushed trash into the container. These compactors routinely crush steel drums, wood pallets, fiberglass boats, refrigerators, stoves and more

When space is limited, as it usually is with high rise apartments and office towers, our special line of aprtment packers or high density extruder compactor, would be the right choice. These units are usually fed via a trash chute that services many floors of a building. They come equipped with a special hopper that interfaces with the building chute, an access door with interlock, a photelectric eye to activate the unit when trash is in the charge chamber and a full container light lets you know when the container is full.

With the cost of collecting, transporting and dumping solid wastes always on the rise, transfer stations and convenience centers are more popular now than ever before. Typical transfer stations and convenience centers use a variety of equipment. We have it all. Open top containers, precrusher compactors, horizontal compactors, vertical or horizontal balers, even gasoline powered hydraulic systems for out of the way areas are readily available from Maguire. We've installed systems for communities from as little 500 residents to more than 50,000. Some units are capable of over 50 tons per hour while others, only open one day per week, would do 10% of that on a Saturday.

Cart dumper systems extend the benefits of compaction to all areas of an operation. Dumpers are designed to handle 2 and 4 cubic yard trainable steel containers or 1 cubic yard plastic tilt carts. Some models are fully integrated with a compactor or they can be used as a stand alone unit attached to almost any compactor. Using the trainable cart system with a towing vehicle to train carts located throughout your facility to the dumper reduces labor to a fraction of that required to perform the same job manually.

This group of compactors is usually considered wet waste units. The compactor is welded to a container so that the entire assembly, including the liquid, is transported to the landfill. We call these roll-off self contained compactors. Typical applications include grocery stores, food courts at malls, large restaurants, hotels, hospitals and institutions, food processors, resorts...anywhere there is a lot of liquid mixed in with the rubbish. These compactors are equipped with a large sump that collects the liquid and a special seal that insures it doesn't leak.

Horizontal Balers

The Baler is your essential piece of processing equipment for a recycling operation. Whether you are recycling cardboard, paper, plastic, used beverage cans or ferrous and non-ferrous metals, a baler can compact your by-product in a dense, easy to store and easy to transport bundle. Our Marathon heavy duty horizontal balers are ideal for baling larger quantities of recyclable material.

• Side-Eject Balers & Closed-End Balers offer the capability of processing a wide variety of material. Photo cells and a rotary bale length gauge facilitate automatic operation and unattended baling.
• The Atlas - Multi-Material Baler is the most affordable, highly efficient, mid-size baler for the non-ferrous scrap industry.
• Open-End Auto-Tie Balers process recyclable materials from 1 to 25 tons per hour in a steady throughput of more dense, even bales.
• Marathon's Two-Ram Balers come in a variety of models for various recycling requirements and budgets. They are ideal for processing a wide variety of materials such as cardboard, solid waste, newsprint, aluminum and steel cans, plastic, and with the optional metals package, non-ferrous material, and much more.
